Thanks for the info !

Good to know there is still hope for it.

As I recall, this unit was one of the units that went on lease to Mexico.

yes, the engine went to Mexico..
its amazing to think that this engine was stored in Sayre, went all the way to Mexico, then upon returing from Mexico it ended up in Pittston, PA!
just a few miles down the LV main from Sayre!
what are the odds of that?

anyone know the story about the Mexico journey?
how many other SDP45's went?
and why?

im really curious about this engine now!
especially since I have seen her in person..
and, also because I grew up in Waverly and am a big EL fan..

opps!
sorry..when I made those "Sayre" refrences above, I thought I was on the forum where we were discussing the string of SDP45's sitting in Sayre for a year!
but that ws over here:

http://forums.railfan.net/forums.cgi?bo ... 1099279547

(why do we need so many different railfan forums? but thats another topic..)
(I guess its not so bad for the EL..I only know of 2 EL forums..but there are 5 or 6 LV forums..one would do nicely..but anyway..)

so yes, here are the pictures of this particilar unit when she sat in Sayre for a year with 12 of her sisters..
I dont have the exact dates with me, but I can get them..
they are with my original photos, at the Sayre station..

Boy those are sad pics....always feel like I'm looking in at a wake when viewing dead lines.

I guess Conrail didn't use Imron or Centari paint did they ! It's 1986 and those units probably didn't lose their E-L scheme until 1978....and look at the faded crap blue less than 7-8 years later !

Shame.

Sad to look at those units and think back that they ran Hot Shot freights from Croxton NJ to Chicago, I hope someone rescues that unit and restores it and repaints it back into E-L colors. What a sound 3 SD45s made when lashed together pulling a long freight.
