Due to reduced congestion?

Guessing it might be sarcasm on atholrail's part. ED-8/9 generally reduced transit times for EDPO/POED by handling Gardner, Fitchburg, and Ayer business. Hopefully, EDPO/POED will run through Ayer, using Fitchburg as the drop/pickup point for Ayers. With EDPO/POED working Gardner and Ayer, that'll add 2-3 hours to a trip, and even more unproductive crew time will be expended in cabs, half of which will come outta the Pony's pockets.
Given the large sizeof some recent ED-9s, abolishing it seems -- at least to this mere mortal civilian -- puzzling.

Word is the abolishment of EDAY (and a couple other jobs) is to force guys onto the spare board to make up for crew shortages.

Pretty sure on the bid sheet the crew's were still EDAY/AYED although the jobs were ED8/ED9.

Today's EDPO 7575-7542-7655-505-512-5974 was working on a setoff at OX at 1030. They setoff their Ayers and Fitch's and went east with 11 Nashua's. No Rigby's.

Seems healthy ... Not too big, not too small. Where do the refrigerated cars come from/go to?

Most go to Boston.

Seen a few in Gardner, too. Dunno if they were PWs or MT WBs that mighta been brought up Da Hill for ED-9/POED pickup.

Highliner also gets a couple every now and then?

Related to the refrigerated cars, there was a Westbound train parked at Graniteville in Westford on 12/24 at about 1400 hours with 6 refrigerated cars behind the head end power. I don't know the train symbol but power was MEC's 7898, 7643, and 7609. If it helps in the tracking the lead refrigerator car was ARMN 902121.

Yes, Highliner gets a few here and there. But most are coming in and out of Boston for that CSX traffic that was picked up. The ones that are in the westbound POAY in the post above this were from a pickup at NC, with the cars coming out of Boston.

Refrigerator Cars go to three locations
Chelsea/Everett to the New England Produce Center
Portsmouth to Highliner Foods
North Billerica to Siegel Egg
