Has anybody an idea about laws regarding flying drones in (open spaces) NYC and taking pictures of trains and subways e.g. on Hell Gate Bridge?
Most information in the internet is contradictive.
Thanks, Andrew

It is pretty much illegal except in a few parks , and even then if there is many people around .

add to that the prohibition to fly within certain distance of airports/heliports and you can pretty much forget flying.

You have to call in all ATC to get permission. But LGA... I don't know if they would grant you permission. There are other restrictions as well

Get yourself AirMap app and look into it.

Local restrictions notwithstanding - you have to know the class of the airspace in which you want to fly.

There are also restrictions on altitude in all cases, not to mention that the drone must remain in your field of view at all times.

If you're flying your drone for commercial/business reasons, you need a pilot's license (for drones).

You can do worse than looking through the FAA's FAQ on drones: https://www.faa.gov/uas/faqs/
