Hello all:

I had a chance to ride the Endless mt rail trail with my mt bike, very nice area! So it spurred me to wondering, if there was any info/pics on the trains/men/events that ran this route, was it narrow gauge? Stopped by and viewed the Alford station and switching tower. Looked for the station in Hop Bottom/Kingsley, but all gone unless I missed it! I did see a switchback near that area and wondered if there was a track from Alford to Hop Bottom up to the main line. This area has/has so many rails running through very confusing to me. Would love to hear/view history and maps circa 1915 or so.

TIA

I think he was asking about the Montrose Branch that broke off the mainline in Alford. Here are links to pictures from my site.

Part of it is the Endless Mountain trail, recently acquired by the Rail Trail Council of NEPA.
