Demystifying Amtrak’s radio CTCSS tones in the Northeast
CTCSS is a technique that inserts specific audio tones into radio transmissions but in what way does Amtrak use them in the Philadelphia-New Jersey-New York area?

This topic is about a radio transmission technique (CTCSS) found in many systems but specifically analyzes Amtrak's on the Northeast Corridor. This is a highly specialized topic and not a typical railfan topic so few people may find it interesting. Railfans may enjoy the radio clips anyway so don't be afraid to take a peek.

In the future (no timeline) I plan to write a few more articles that are enjoyable by a wider audience but I had to get this one out of the way.

Didn't want to bump this but I had to republish in a proper publication and not in a user post. It was a little confusing why other users (publications, actually) had article URLs that didn't just redirect. Now the URLs have the titles in them and aren't just redirects.
