No, my understanding is that the issue is not with the Rte 70 highway bridge, but with the at-grade RR bridge over a swampy area just north of Rte 70.

All I know is that a group of people in safety vests were apparently checking that bridge out yesterday afternoon. To my knowledge this is the first time it's been looked at in years. Conrail put a new deck in during 2012, which I believe was the last time it was worked on.

Friend who informed me about the bridge also informed me that two guys were walking up towards the runaround. Wonder what the reason behind this is, and if the other two bridges will be inspected...

There was a road crew on the bridge today around noon working on the eastbound lane. Maybe yesterday's crew went for a hike?

North through Lakewood at 1:53 pm. They changed the engine positions, so 752 is leading again.

The older guy was named Don I think. He retired a few months ago.

NJDOT was up on top of the Rt70 bridge in Lakehurst today with a concrete saw doing some kind of work to the inside lane.

Went by it this morning. Not sure why they'd look at the railroad bridge just to work on the overpass. Couldn't see anything different about the railroad bridge so I guess they were just checking on it.

I assume Conrail/C&D have some sort of obligation to keep the bridges maintained to a certain standard?

Now that I think about it, remember when they wanted to put that natural gas pipeline in underneath the tracks a few years ago? They still gonna do that? It was gonna run through the same general area where the guys were walking.
