From Facebook

Attention Freehold Secondary Railfans ! I have been in contact with Carolyn Hoffman of Operation Toy Train . She will be setting up a QR code and sharing it with the group. We will be able to click on it and directly donate money to Operation Toy Train for the paint job for their newly acquired boxcar . Let's support this great organization in a way that we will all be able to appreciate and most importantly , help out those kids in need !

Not train related (but still transportation-related), but Monmouth County is trying to take over the airport that's in the Wall/Farmingdale area: https://tworivertimes.com/countylaunche ... litystudy/

Rumors amongst the locals seem to be that the county wants to turn it into a regional/international airport - Monmouth Executive Airport has a longer runway (7,345 ft) than LaGuardia (7,002 ft). Further, LaGuardia covers 680 acres of land, Monmouth Executive Airport sits on 850 or so acres.

Now here is where the railroads come in (with some wild speculation): if the county decides to try making this a regional/international airport, would they try to use the local railroad(s) for facilitating transport of passengers? 80 or so years ago, there was a wye that ran off the Southern and across Belmar Blvd that ran to a sandpit that is now part of the airport.

There's two trucks working at the Dinaso Lumber site. One has a large drill on the back. Soil sample testing?

I was the Freehold area today near the Route 79 and CR 55 intersection and heard the train's K3LA loud and clear. I have never heard nor seen a train in Freehold in my 28 years of my life. Also saw an Earle switcher most likely a Baldwin VO working in the yard near the Route 18 overpass with its lights on so watch for out for a train from them this week. Really miss seeing and hearing this train in the Red Bank-Eatontown area.

Lights are installed, but not working, at the Yellowbrook Rd crossing.

It seems like they are slowly but surely making their way west with installing crossing protection. I wonder if the wye will get any?
