Well it looks like the weed sprayer only went as far as Earle. Hi rail tire marks on the tracks at Hamilton Road. Power is cut to the relay case here. Looks like the truck also had to get on or off here since there's tire tracks in the mud. Maybe they derailed? Wouldn't surprise me.ImageImage

Thank you for the photos. The track does indeed look sad. Does anyone know the history of the PRR style catenary poles and crossbeams? My apologies if this was answered before.

I think CNJ wanted to electrify this line at one point but I don't remember all the details.

NO
First, why would CNJ want to electrify, the coast line was NOT electrified to Red Bank when those poles/lines were put up and the CNJ had NO electrified operations.
Does anyone know the history of the PRR style catenary poles and crossbeams?
Again, NO. These are "H style" power lines put up by JCP&L for power grid connectivity to the Red Bank sub-station. W2KB, Ken, is very knowledgeable on this topic. Also same as the power lines/poles put up over the Boonton Line, ELECTRIC POWER UTILITY lines only, nothing to do with electrification.

You are correct and I believe that this was discussed on the "CR on the Southern Secondary" thread at some point

No train today. They are rebuilding the crossing at Seventh Street in Lakewood.

A friend tells me they made another hi rail run up to Red Bank this morning. He described seeing a large white truck with a big box on the back. To my knowledge C&D has no such vehicle that matches this description...

Track Geometry Truck?? Would probably be the first time ones been here since 2012-2014 ish...

Oh it's horrible between Red Bank and Tinton Falls. I'm just wondering why bring it that way? And if they took it elsewhere? AFAIK this type of inspection is only mandatory if a rail line sees a certain amount of traffic, and if you carry passengers I think.

If they want to store cars (espcly tank cars) there, makes sense to check the rail and avoid even a small derailment.

If they have even the smallest of derailments with tank cars and it gets out, there will be outrage among the uneducated populous, and it will put an end to car storage, which has the potential to be a good money maker.

The C&D is not far from the chemical coast, so would be convenient for car storage

You guys make me laugh. Three years ago you complained that Conrail didn't do anything to this line and its in deplorable condition. New operator takes steps in improving the overall condition of the line, and now you're looking for black helicopters.

No black helicopters. The C&D has been talking about car storage. not digging under rocks here....

And who's complaining about them fixing up the line? Its a good thing.

I do share your frustration about crazy speculation tho. Its just ppl dreaming about the RR here returning to its former glory.
