No sense in getting a new bridge unless they're going to raise it. Can't lower the road; it's already the lowest spot under the bridge. If they are putting in all that effort, might as well widen the road too, it's really tight, maybe 16-18 ft, especially because of the sharp turn directly adjacent.
Gotta go back a hundred feet for each foot height increase, that changes the grade by about 1%. Also the only reason for the park to get involved.
The existing bridge handled K4s which were 40-50 tons heavier than the current traction. It hasn't degraded all that much, doesn't need to be replaced from a rail traffic point of view. Just to keep from getting hit.
