I recently moved to Eastern PA, have made a few trips to Scranton and am interested in finding out more about the DL and its current operations.
On a recent Steamtown trip from Scranton to East Stroudsburg I saw several industries that looked active, including the big flour mill at Mount Pocono, a propane dealer, and a couple of lumber yards. Of course there is also the industry in Scranton itself such as the ammo plant and the one along the trolley line that seems to have several covered hoppers parked there.
It is my understanding that they no longer interchange with NS in Portland, so I assume the only freight traffic on the Pocono Line is local switching? How often do they usually service these customers?
Also, how often do they run to Carbondale, and where do they interchange their traffic now?
Thanks in Advance
