Per MaineRailfans post- the rail thru Lincoln was changed out earlier in the summer.

The Loram rail grinder was tied down in the siding at Danville Junction at Noon today.

I was up there this weekend, no rail has been dumped through Mattawamkeag or Winn, or through downtown Lincoln although they have dropped some OTM in those areas for future installation of CWR.

Corman has redone several switches at Waterville and Corman could possibly be in town by the end of the week.

GBI Right of ways has a few excavators and a bulldozer at Mattawamkeag and it appears they will be installing new switches on the main up there soon.

For those interested brush has been cutback from Royal at least as far as Hacketts -- possibly further. Don't get too excited, it was really low canopy stuff and only about 3-5 feet cut back, but definitely improves visibility at ground level.

Those might be for EMR. There is another TR gon at Mattawamkeag with a pile of ties unloaded next to it on the EMR side.

Per a post from Harry on Facebook, the remaining sections of stick rail should be covered by the next rail train whenever that is. 0-4, 12-14 and 29-35

Negative, they are doing the main line switches off of Track 3 and Track 11 and possibly the one for 15 and 19. I think I counted 6 switch panels, so everything would add up correct for that. They are also installing switches for Track 4 in Lincoln.

Local news reporting a train-related incident in Old Orchard Beach earlier this afternoon. Photos in this account show loaded welded rail cars, which would make it the same M426 as discussed above yesterday:

https://wgme.com/news/local/authorities ... ain-tracks
Fair use (really most of the slim account):
Authorities are investigating an incident near the train tracks in Old Orchard Beach.

Police tape has been put up by the train tracks near the Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce on 1st St.
No details as yet so seems a very recent development.

According to the following, the two victims were “sitting on the train platform”. Unclear from the release whether than means they were sitting on the yellow line.

From York County, ME Scanner Alerts:

On 10/16/2024 at approximately 10:51am Old Orchard Beach Police and Fire/Rescue units were dispatched to the area of the train platform located on First Street for the report of several subjects who had been struck by a passing train. Responding units immediately determined two male subjects had been struck by a freight train which was traveling North towards Scarborough. One male was determined to be deceased, and a second male was transported by Old Orchard Beach fire/rescue to Maine Medical Center and is listed to be in critical condition. There were two other males also located at the scene who were uninjured.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Old Orchard Beach Police Department assisted by Maine State Police Detectives and CSX Railroad Police investigators.
Upon further investigation it was determined the males were sitting on the train platform prior to being struck by the train. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.
Following the incident and during the initial investigation several roadways identified as Union Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, and Old Orchard Street were blocked by the train. Currently all roadways have re-opened to normal traffic.
The incident remains under investigation by the Old Orchard Beach Police Department and railroad police. The identities of those involved are not being released at this time.
