If they are centerbeam loads, those are for Irving.

No, they've been in low sided gondolas, at least 8-10 in a shot. At least the third train I've seen them on over the last few weeks.

CSX Track Inspection train W003 (I believe) led by CSX GP40WH-2 9969 (built for NYC as a GP40 some 57 years ago) left the B*A main at CP-45 to head north on the Worcester sub at 1730 Tuesday afternoon 7/30/24. Screen grabs from Railside Live's Worcester live cam....

From the Portland Press Herald:
Portland Press Herald wrote:A section of Read Street in Portland will be closed Wednesday and a stretch of Brighton Avenue will be closed Thursday to accommodate railroad crossing work, the city announced Monday.

Read Street will be closed between the Canco Road and Bell Street intersections from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vehicle traffic, including emergency vehicles, will be completely prevented from using the roadway, city spokesperson Jessica Grondin said.

Traffic will be detoured via Walton Street and Forest Avenue. She said the track work is being completed by a private contractor.

On Thursday, Brighton Avenue at St. John Street also will be closed to all traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic will be rerouted onto the northern side streets.

Work along the Stony Brook must be starting soon.
The ties that were previously dropped in large bundles along the ROW have been redistributed in groups of 10 as needed. Paint marks also refreshed.

I'm going to correct my previous post-------- A track panel has been dropped off at Depot St. Westford , the new ties are laid out only to CPF Westford and east of Depot St.
So it seems they are going to replace the Depot St. crossing soon. I don't know about the rest of the Stony.
Apologies for the mis-information.

They dumped on the grade from somewhere east of Odlin Road to Waterworks and through Old Town and across French Island which really needs it. Rail has also been laid across the bridge from Benton to Fairfield, it seems like they are trying to fix up track over the main bridges and the roughest spots first. If they install it this year, from Milford to Odlin Road will be all welded rail in some form. French Island is pretty rough as well as the track through the end of Old Town which hasn't been replaced yet. Its surprising they haven't derailed in that section.

You can see the new rail at French Island at 5:35 in this video: https://youtu.be/AmevL6HRdcg?si=foKBVVuNNMOYOtUd

Why is it surprising? The speeds are set based on track condition. The section foreman would drop them or take it out of service if they felt it was out of compliance with the current Class.
