CSX K277 Derails in Harmon West Yard tonight

CSX K277 had a derailment this evening of 4 cars on track 8 in the Harmon West Yard. Derailment on track 8 ocurred just prior to midnight - Engineer for MN said the cars were upright and leaning toward the river - said he suspected they spread the rail as well.

I'd hate to be a resident in that area having a trash train derail in the neighborhood.

where is the harmon west yard, what city, state?

On the east side of the Hudson River in Croton/Harmon NY.

K-277, as you may have gathered from the previous poster, is a unit trash train from Oak Point yard in the Bronx to Selkirk along the east bank of the Hudson on Metro-North's and then CSXT. It then travels south along the west side of the river en-route to the Carolinas or Viriginia.

If you could see the condition of the yard you would wonder how anything gets in or out...

Correct in CSX west yard they are trying a alternative rail system, the rail is spiked to dirt.
