At about 7am a CSX Freight derailed while crossing Somerset St. in Taunton, MA. blocking the road. An area school has been closed. I am not able to pickup any radio traffic. Chris

Only thing I heard was something on the traffic reports on radio about Rte.44 being blocked by a train. Not sure if it is MI-1 on their way back to Middleboro or if it was MI-2. Either way I wouldn't be surprised if the track gave in to all the flooding in the area. :(

here is the news report about it:

http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/92 ... etail.html

it was B726 returning from Attleboro and it derailed at around 4am, and according to this news report, it blocked traffic from Tremont St. (route 44) and somerset St. this is a big distance, almost a mile

how long did it take to clean up the derailment?[/url]

Does anyone know what channels are used on that line?

the line that this train derailed on is called the Middleboro Secondary(runs from Middleboro to Attleboro), CSX uses the radio fequency 160.800 for everything on this line.

tongiht, 5/16 as i was traveling home, i was stopped at a RR crossing on S. Worcester St. in Norton at 8:13 pm and 2 CSX locomotives went through lite heading from Attleboro towards Taunton, does any1 know what these engines were doing? assiting in the derailment clean up?

well i just found out my answer, the 2 engines came lite from Readville to assist in teh clean up of the derailment, so i guess no B726 tongiht

At least the cars carrying sulfuric acid didn't derail, although it caused some traffic mess from what I know.

That would have been B733, which probably followed MBCR 823 from Readville to Attleboro.

hey everyone, i visited the derailment site this moring, 5/17 and there were only 2 derailed cars left, they were off to the side, and CSX crews were putting new track down, it came in sections on flatbed trucks, i have picutres and i will be posting them soon on NERAIL

another note, most of B726's cars were pulled back to Attleboro and they are there now, and B725 did not come to Attleboro last night 5/16

there will most likely be an extra running from Middleboro when they get the track back into operation and i have heard no word if B725 will drop off cars for B726 tonight in Attleboro (5/17)

They won't run an extra unless the line is blocked after Thursday night, one of the day jobs can go get the remaining cars at Boro if MI-1 doesn't get there tonight.

This morning B727 is working the Brockton line instead of B729. Maybe 729 working the derailment? B727 will be following MBCR 007 (10:34am)south.
