I am not saying that at all. It was his responsibility to see that the crews were working safely and their negligence nearly created a disaster. The owner has a responsibility for all that happens on his/her watch. That it even happened spoke volumes about the lack of established safety culture.

Why they would use a loader to move around a unit is a questionable decision from the start. Normally they only do that for moves in and out of the round house, not with equipment on a descending grade...

If there was documentation, then the sale will be null and void. If it was only a handshake agreement then that's unfortunate, they should've had documentation to prove they own it. If there was a missed deadline for them to remove the crane, then I could see the donation being voided but that wouldn't come as a surprise to the club if that was the case.

And a bus is hopefully going to shadow the freight which makes me believe this freight is an all day affair on Saturday and Sunday. Probably going to be chasing that freight on one of those days, anybody want to guess when the freight leaves for Conway in the morning? I know that it will be heading that way before the passenger service starts so, i'm estimating about 8:30-9:00 since the first valley run is 9:30.

Early morning venting session about the 50th anniversary celebration or should I say "debacle?" The press release from the railroad is saying all these things about the photo freight and how there'll be a bus for ticket holders, my only question is when will they release the tickets for the photo freight? They told us that there's gonna be one on Saturday and Sunday, if they changed their mind about doing the freight and instead want to do the 5 valley trains and 3 RDC runs only, then let the public know, don't say that there's gonna be a freight on both days and then on the day of the event say "nope, we're not doing it" because that's what's going to happen if you ask me, not based on any information I have gotten. Be transparent, tell the truth, because it's gonna be an even worse look for a railroad that already has a bad rep to some people (not to me). Two weeks before the event, I received an email saying that they haven't determined the locations that the freight will go to as well as departure times. TWO WEEKS before an event that is about the legacy of the Conway Scenic and frankly an event that they should have been starting to plan at least in April, if not April maybe December 2023. Not even bothering to ask them about any information, I'm going up Sunday, prepared for the worst.

Would you expect anything else from there? I certainly don't. I'm going saturday and depending on if it's decent enough i'll go sunday. At least the flying yankee will be on display, I guess?

I'm only going on Sunday, just trying to keep an open mind about the event, if the freight extra happens, I'll chase that. I definitely think, because i'm going to be there early if the freight extra does happen, It'll be beneficial to go to the Conway end first and get shots of the Flying Yankee before the crowds get there. You said if it's decent enough, in your mind, what is the definition of decent enough?

The way I read it...you get access to the bus if you have a ticket for one of the train rides. So, I guess just don't pick the train time when the bus is running...good luck 😉 FB posts do show freight cars being moved around, so I'd say it's a go.

If it's a go, would a estimated departure time of 8:45-9:00 be accurate for the photo freight if the first passenger departure is 9:30?

Bus departs 8:15 tomorrow and it says to ask the railroad for other bus times. I think as long as you have any conway ticket, you can get access to the whole event no matter the time

Yes for tomorrow, will they be the valley train power on Sunday or will they be on the freight extra?

I'm guessing the first bus will depart at 8:15 on Sunday too.

Yesterday was pretty decent. Got some good photo ops. At the end of the day they took the RDC down and put it next to the yankee since it was just mostly railfans on that car. Only problem was trains were running 20-30min late, and will call tickets had just opened when the first bus left.
