Yes, on occasion, as an engineer and road foreman back in my Conrail days (it's been quite a while).

Nice? Well... Fun to operate? Yes. Classy? Yes, definitely. It's a classic design that has not been equalled since the last E9A was built (my opinion).

Amazingly, 5711/5808 (4020/4021) were used about four months ago for a.........................NS SHIPPERS SPECIAL!

Ok, How many other E8's were painted in the Conrail Blue? Also howmany other E8's did CR own? A few Pics....

This says its CR but its in NJT Colors....

4 EMD E7A, all ex-PC

57 EMD E8A - 23 from EL and 34 from PC.

no B-units.

The pic was taken in 1979 before NJT was created. The colors are actually NJDOT.
