No surprise. The VIA trains run very consistently on-time and even early these days, which means that traffic must be down a reasonable amount, at least in Western Canada.

Really unfortunate for a lot of people as the staffing ramp-up at CN has made for some absolutely meteoric ascensions from Conductor to full-fledged Locomotive Engineer. To the point apparently that some conductors felt that they lacked sufficient on-the-job experience to be a full-fledged engineer.
