Perhaps, but still interesting nonetheless.

I imagine at least one announcement will cover the work being done between Winslow and Richland. I could be wrong but I have a hunch one will be in regards to the Cape May Branch work.

I'm hoping they also do some work between Richland and Tuckahoe. There's a few spots that are kinda rough IMO.

The big announcement was that after receipt of a grant the CMSL is performing major track work between Richland and Tuckahoe Junction. While I am glad such work is occurring as it will help preserve CMSL's limited freight operations, I am saddened/disappointed no major improvements are occurring on the Cape May Branch south of Tuckahoe.

They did put some ties in South of Tuckahoe on the branch but that's it so far. Supposedly the major issue keeping them from going down there is all the damaged track in Woodbine. I'm curious as to why nothing has been done on that particular stretch, is the damage bad enough that CMSL can't foot the bill for repairs? I know that unless they can pick up some sort of freight business past Woodbine the odds probably aren't in their favor of getting a grant for that section.

Another thing I found curious during my last visit to the branch (August 2023) was the track conditions between Rio Grande and Cape May Court House. It honestly didn't look too bad, especially the rails and roadbed. The ties were a different story though, and I'd say many need to be replaced.

Bracdude, correct- the cost from the vandalism down there was that costly. Agree about the assessment of the rest of the track. Hopefully one day it can be fixed.

I wasn't aware of any plan to fix the bridge by any party but they did reach an agreement in Cape May. The station platform and adjacent track are still there and will remain but the two inner tracks were paved over for a parking lot. You can see the parking lot being built on Google Street View unless it's been updated since I last checked.

They ran motorcar rides out of Cold Spring Village the other day and the Volunteer Railroaders Association have cleared the ROW from Woodbine.
