Underneath the Roosevelt Road bridge there are three bilevel coaches parked. The first two are ex-CB&Q coaches covered with tarps. The first car is 745, can't see the number of the second car. The third is 8592 and only the cab end is covered. Anyone know what this is all about?

These cars may have been involved in the crash involving a BNSF commuter and Amtrak train recently. Probably being kept for NTSB inspections and look overs by lawyers. Covering up damaged cars is standard practice. You don't want riders seeing smashed up cars!

I'll bet that's what it is. Thanks.

Meanwhile, the two cars from last month's UP-NW incident with the truck sit out in the open at California Avenue and visible from passing Milw District trains when not blocked by other equipment (usually behind other equipment middays when the fleet is in the yard).

Yeah! But your only seeing one side of the car from passing trains! There is a small tarp covering up the north side of the car were the big gash is. But you would think they would think they would cover the cars, but you can't see much from the mainline.

There also appears to be a few dented and stripped stainless bilevels at the Rock shops. How many wrecked cars have been lost anyway?
