Neither the driver of the car nor the passengers and crew on the first train of the morning rush were injured. However, the accident delayed more than 1,000 Metro-North commuters on their way to work for as long as two hours.
Tuxedo town police said the driver, Daniel J. Duffy, 20, of Cresskill, N.J., was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless endangerment of property, misdemeanors, and traffic violations.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority police also filed an endangerment charge against Duffy to reflect damage to the train. Duffy was released pending future court appearances.
