Anyone know how many boats and their names over the years they ran? My grandfather worked on them, but I never got to ask him much about them.
I looked at a 1946 timetable and it looks like they ran about 36 trips each weekday from Market St Wharf to Federal St. Cost was $1.32 one way, $1.60 RT. It took about 8 minutes to cross and it seems they could have done this schedule with 2, maybe 3 boats only. They ran from 3;30 AM to 11;10 PM.
The bridge built in 1926 must have reduced ferry use and I wonder what was the maximum number of boats in use at one time.
I also wonder about the capabilities of the other ferry companies that ran then.

Thanks in advance for anyone helping to answer my questions.
