As I was listening to the radio feed in connection with a Bush bridge opening this afternoon, about 4:30 pm till
about 6 pm, it occurred to that during the PRR and PC years, we never heard about delays resulting from a Bush opening. About how often does an opening occur during the navigable season? What changed after Amtrak took over the NEC that resulted in delays such as today's?

Yesterday (the 15th) was a bit off a mess. There were signal problems around DC and New York City, and an ATV crashed onto the tracks before the train came and killed two people off the ATV.

...what gets me is that I'm looking on Google maps, and the reported crash site is Shaefers Lane and the CSX track, not Amtrak. Where did this really happen?

Clarification of the ATV strike location via WMAR-TV as of 6:25 pm on 9/18:
Editors Note: WMAR initially reported information provided by authorities stating the train collision occurred in the area of Schaefers Lane and CSX Railway. Amtrak has corrected initial reports stating that the crash occurred on Amtrak-owned and operated tracks south of Aberdeen, between Gunpow MP79.3 and River Interlocking MP 89.3, on the No. 3 track at MP 87.0.

I just emailed the other two to get them to update their stories. They're getting too lax.

Otoh, give it time. iirc, there have been a few vehicle strikes at Schafers lane.
