Braddock PA was served by the B&O, P&LE, and PRR and remains so by their successors. According to a 1964 Official Guide, the B&O offered commuter service to Pittsburgh and one through train, the Wash-Chgo Express, stopped there. The PRR had no passenger trains stopping and the P&LE was, of course, freight only.

Today of course, only Amtrak's Capitol Limited rolls on through.

These Levi Strauss ads are really an eye opener, especially to one from a fairly affluent suburb in which the women and children are all properly "toned and tanned' (the also toned men have ridden the BNSF into work - obesity epidemic, what's that?) and the biggest excitement is when a cellphone yakking SUV driving Mom took out a telephone pole along with service from phone, electric, and cable providers - and the BNSF X-ing signals. They poignantly reveal just how badly impacted communities have been from the elimination of the "heavy" industries (steel in the case of Braddock) that underscored their economic base. The current Recession has hardly helped matters, but the seeds of the decay had been in place long before.

The video includes clips of one line or the other.

Allow me to add (since the Edit tab appears to be disabled) a "ditto' for the Pennsylvanian over the NS (Capitol Ltd is on CSX).
