Appears all of the clearing of heavy brush and light debris has paid off !

With the new rail, ties and ballast, the area and lead ROW hasn't looked like this for over 40 years ! That retaining wall has been invisible buried under a mass of growth for a long, long time. Much of the original track - and swtches still in place - were uncovered once all the vegetation was cleared upon initial site work months ago.

Hope they somehow salvage and keep in place what's left of those classic Lackawanna concrete bumpers !

Concrete bumpers and that old turntable pit across the road! Even the high bridge back in the weeds is a neat sight!

Oh yea on the turntable pit and trestle....still with rail !

But they did remove the intact remnant rail that once ran under the above roadway over to that trestle. When all the brush got cleared it was cool to see that in-place track ( adjacent to that retaining wall ) go right into the embankment. Appears when they demolished the bridge ( or was it a short tunnel ), they didn't bother to lift the rail....just buried it under the earthen fill.

What is the yard being cleared/refurbished for? NJT? Tourist Line?

Hi all,

On my lunch break on Friday, I took a quick spin up to the former West
Boonton yard, which is being rebuilt as a storage yard for the URHS of NJ
.
It looks like work has stopped for the winter, with two tracks tamped and in
place, and a third untamped track also in. Here are two views of the work so
far. The scale track here used to be right by the concrete retaining wall.
