What kind of time are the road trains averaging these days? It sounds like there's a lot of power on the head end.

If a train is called out of Bingo, about how long should it take to get to port Jervis, Pelton, Butler, etc? Ditto for one of the big garbage trains or the light 271 trains westbound?

It used to be that everyroad train went dead somewhere between Port and Sparta, then nobody went dead, and then everybody got a cab ride from Sparta or Newfoundland to a hot pillow on the isle of capri.

It's about 120 grueling miles from Bingo to Port, maybe another 30 to Pelton, and another 85 to Little Ferry

Normally it sould be Bingo to Port: 4 hours, Port to Pelton 2 hours, Pelton to SJ 45 minutes, and SJ to Little Ferry 2 hours. Then reverse for opposite direction. Then if trains stall or break something somewhere it throws everything off. But sometimes with the 271 a local crew will bring it past SJ and it will be stopped and the local crew will pick it up and then a road crew will grab it sometime later.

And they've been really gutsy on occasion, and had the Syracuse crew go as far as they can in 12 hours. The SY-1 crew has made it so far to Vernon on on occasion, Chester, NY on another occasion, and one time they got the 156 to Sparta JCT, swapped with the WS-4 which was on the 271, and then took the 271 back to Pelton Road before outlawing! Gotta admit it was a bit odd hearing the WS-4 talking to the SY-1 that night! And when you add in the deadhead time to the time card.... KA-CHING! And while I won't get into it here, the Bingo/NJ pool crews do OK on the $$$ front, but like everyone, could and should be better paid.... but thats another topic....
