I am leaving for a driving trip to A&M country this coming Sunday. My hope is to catch as many of the Alcos as possible. I will be there for about 10 days.
Can anyone point out any "special" Alcos I should look for? Recent re-paints,new power, etc?

I should also mention that on the return leg of the trip, I hope to photograph 3 Alcos in ILLINOIS including T-6 # 1017 , RS-11 #321 and C420 # 1330.
All 3 are within 100 miles of each other.

There is an Ex Erie S-1 also parked with C-420 #1330.

They were Erie 524 and Monon 513.

I'm not familiar with the other two alco however, Where they they located?

There is a Alco T-6 switcher in Dana, IN (the last Alco built) and a RS-11(ex-KB&S) in Darrow IL used at a grain elevator.

Yeah, how about checking out and finding the status of RS-1 #20?

Thanks. :)
It's a RS-32, ex NYC 2031. In service as far as I know.

What do you need to know about it?

Recently, they pulled this engine into the shop to work on it. I am not sure what they are doing to it, but I know that it had overheating problems last year. I will try to learn more.

So it is an ex NYC engine. Hmmm. Interesting...wouldn't it be nice to see the 2031 move back East to join 2035?

I don't know enough about it. Could you snap some photos of it while there? What's its current assignment? The C420s are always in the "news" but the T6s, the RS32, and the RS-1 don't seem to get nearly enough attention. :)

I hope to shoot as many of the Alcos as I can. I love the T6! My favorite switcher.

If you get near Pine Bluff, AR there are three C-C ALCOs at the Arkansas Railroad Museum on static display.
