Exactly one year ago I was in India for a month traveling around the northern part of the country. The most fascinating part of the trip was a 10 hour train ride from Jullundur to Jammu (in Kashmir). About three hours into the ride I got up to stretch my legs and realized that the coaches had no doors, and no one was stopping people from standing in the doorway and staring out into the vast countryside. I spent pretty much the next 6 hours standing in awe, and the photos I took can be found here: http://www.photobucket.com/vicdamone62 . I hope some of you find these interesting.

Cheers!

Thanks for the interest. I was in a bit of a deep stop in life and decided to take off to somewhere i had never been. I ended up travelling to india and staying with members of the sri chaitanya gaudiya math. i landed in new dehli, and travelled to chandigarh, which is a beautiful garden city in the north of india. i was lucky enough to be there for duvali, which is the festival of lights. From there i travelled to amritsar, which is the most holy place for Sikhs. It is a sacred temple in the middle of the city which is entirely gold plated. it was a rather enchanting experience. Then i travelled to jallandar, and then took the train ride to jammu. i gave a lecture at jammu university on the topic of american and india international relations (i'm a politcal science major) and then travelled back to chandigarh for a few days before i went back to new dehli for myn reutrn flight. this took place over last november. it was quite a life changing experience. it put me at peace with a lot of things that had happened before i had left.
