Lest we forget… the railroads painted stainless.

Here’s a video of it being delivered. The positioning of the dark blue and red on the cab doesn’t quite work, but once again it beats the drab Phase V:

I agree, I feel like the cab should've been all red, but I can understand why they maintained the 'swoosh'

P42 #82 has been released in the new paint and should be heading west trailing on 5 (16 or 17)

Same thing at the Grand Canyon. Their entire stainless fleet has been painted in platinum mist. Bit of a mystery as they've left the heavweights in green, so what are the stainless cars painted to match? You can see where it is flaking off beneath the name on this diner.

I don't think they have much of indoor shops with a paint booth there, so perhaps they sent the cars out or cycled them through somewhere like Mid America Car or Metro East when they were bought? Not really sure.

I've heard the process for stripping and painting stainless was a PITA when IC and Northern Pacific traded domes every winter.

Also perhaps most of these cars were ex-Amtrak and just got a stripes package on the windows and maybe the platinum mist was from Amtrak? That is of course excepting the MBTA RDC depowers that were never Amtrak's.

A bit of missing information here.

I think it looks sharp and it was smart to go with a stripe that doesn't clash with the existing Phase IV, so that the trains will look somewhat uniform during the transition (aside from the Viewliner IIs which do indeed clash harshly in their Phase III).

I Like it. I've never been much of a fan of phase 4. If Phase 3b isn't in the cards, this is a good substitute.

Railfan and railroad also reported that the accent colors are going to change based on classes: Red for first class, light blue for business, and green for coach.

I'm not a fan of it on the motive power, but on the passenger equipment that looks really sharp!

I think I know why the "newbuild" Acela II and Airo are all smooth sided.

You can be sure that if someone will buy it, whatever Amtrak can sell, will become rolling billboards - just as has Brightline!!

On my overseas journeys, in both AU and DE, I can't help but note such proliferates. I'm sure same is true elsewhere on the Continent.

If I see "powered by Starbucks coffee" on the side of the Pennsy, I'll know who called it first.

Hasn't Amtrak done advertising wraps on the Amfleet cars before?
