STEAM WHISTLES,ANYONE?

Post by Rick A »

A 1921 article from the LOCOMOTIVE UP TO DATE periodical about Steam Whistles. Any Steam Whistle collectors on this board?

Here's a company that still makes steam whistles.

The Ashton Valve company featured a number of steam whistles. Here are some listed in old catalogs.

Many companies produced whistles. Check out the catalog pages from the turn of the century.

Dont know the make or model, but the USS Higbee, Gearing class destroyer, had a steam whistle mounted. Not official USN equipment! It was mounted on the port side near the door going below decks to the galley. It was mounted on an auxillary steam fitting on the main deck. It was only mounted only dering unrep and blown during breakaway when unrep was done

No, she was a Westpac ship, but we knew about the whistle.
