I have two questions, first off can anyone identify what these cars are,I took these two photos about 3 years ago at GCT.I'm pretty sure the first one is an M2.

Also do only the rebuilt M2s have the stripes on the front like the one in the first picture?

The M2's have gone through a complete rebuild between 1984 and 1990 at the Morrison-Knudeson plant in Hornell NY. A second rebuild was started in 1993 and only 33 (25 and 8*) pairs were rebuilt by M-K. It was cut due to lack of funding. During the second rebuild, the nose paint scheme was modified and later incorporated the stripes. All CSR overhauled M2's have the stripes.

* The second M-K rebuild was only for 25 cars which were done between 1993 and 1995. Eight pairs that were severly damaged in the January 1996 blizzard were added onto the program and returned to service by 1998.
