Yes, it actually ran on Saturday August 5. PRR 7000 on south end, Alex DeCroce in the middle and M-410 on the north end, shown moving to the Tuckahoe station platform for its first run

About 18 passengers rode the first train to Richland and about 75 rode the first train back to Tuckahoe. After letting some passengers off at Tuckahoe station, the train proceeded past the Mill Road grade crossing

to the next grade crossing at Tuckahoe-Mount Pleasant Road where the remainder of the passengers got off to visit the railroad museum.

I also rode the CMSL on Saturday, picking up the train in Richland and riding to Tuckahoe and back. The Tuckahoe-bound train was very crowded (as Bob mentioned) and I thank Bob for sharing a seat with my son so my wife, daughter and I could sit across from them.

There was more room on the Richland-bound train, but still a good crowd. After deboarding the train, we sat and ate lunch under the shade of a tree. There was a small crowd waiting for the next train to Tuckahoe.

After waiting two weeks for them to start their service, I was glad to be able to ride the train and see what equipment was down in Tuckahoe. My son was happy as he was able to cash in his "I owe you" from when we were turned away in November. I'll post my photos from the day soon.

Mike, Did they have any idea when Cape May trains will run ? Getting close to the end of summer and Cold Spring Village has their railroad weekend coming up. Would be pretty bad to have no trains running for that event.

NJ-ARP: Bridge remains key.

Repair and reactivation of the Cape May Canal Bridge has been, and remains, the key obstruction to any restoration of rail passenger service in lower Cape May County.

Landlord New Jersey Transit informs NJ-ARP it is at work on this matter.

That said, we share lv414's concerns over the absence of service spanning the summer of 2006.

I was hoping to photograph the train prior to leaving Richland, but my wife suggested we board the train when we got there to get a seat. That was a good idea. Coming back, the train was not in a photographable location with the engine leading as the engine was past the tree line.

Oh drat! Why didn't I go through Tuckahoe on my way home from South Jersey!?!
Is most of the equipment up there now? I was disappointed that there was no service to Cape May; at least that's the line I was fed at the Info center. I guess I should always check here first. I would like to ride north of Court House.
Has anyone got pictures of the cabooses? I see the one; are there more?

Cape May Seashore Lines announced that it will have a cartoon character aboard its trains running from Richland to Tuckahoe and Tuckahoe to Richland. Train rides for children are $5 for ages 12 and under. Adults pay $10. Trains run every Saturday. Call (800) 984-2055 for more information.

I rode the Santa train on its' first weekend of operation and had a great time. The train was well patronized and the "Wine Train" did quite well too. It looks like they had a good season and the weather certainly cooperated for the most part as well, although a few snow shots would be nice. I hope things continue to look up for CMSL and that they have better fortunes in 2007 than earlier this year.
