#NJTransit Rail is cross honoring @PATHTrain tickets/passes at NPS, Hoboken and Penn Station New York due to PATH power problem. #njcommute
NJTransit saves the day!
Due to heavy rain causing flooding into NY Penn, the main entrance at 32nd & 7th is closed, as well as stairway only at the 31st & 7th (1/2)
NYPenn tracks 7&8 out of service from 7th Ave Concourse due to flooding. Customers must use the 8th Ave Concourse.

No service Newark Penn to Cranford,Shutttle busses in use, cross honor on NJT bus service.
Clean up will take awhile, weather forecast of snow won't help.

Yup I had a nice 85 minute delay. They said it was due to power outage in Newark area impacting signals. How is it the signal can be out but catinary is fine, you would think they pull from same grid. Also, wonder how they recover when signal is out, can they manually signal until power is back up? How about switches?

That Nor'easter (aka Riley on weather channel)has made hash of the entire NEC,it's going to take time to clean up the mess.

Nice. Our train (3961) just went from Express to super local...and apparently it was the brain trust at Amtrak dispatching who decided this AFTER we’d already departed Newark. Nothing like a crowded train making 8 extra stops with hardly anyone boarding or getting off.

On Oct. 29 there was a Montclair Line train that sat for two hours outside of Newark on a bridge - possibly the Passaic River.

Wonder if this was an MU or ALP-hauled train and what happened to it?

Anyone know what equipment was the problem today? Did a train take down the wires, or was there another non-physical failure?

Looks like Gray Lady has joined the "tee off" against NJT:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/08/nyre ... tions.html

Fair Use:
New Jersey Transit, the country’s third-busiest commuter railroad and an essential link to New York City, is not running out of excuses for failing to run its trains. It’s recycling them.

Last week, the railroad canceled more than 60 trains, many of them during the morning or evening rush hours, leaving thousands of commuters scrambling to find other ways of getting to work or home.

In fact, canceled trains have now become a near daily occurrence and many frustrated riders wonder if they will ever be able to depend on the service.

In many cases, New Jersey Transit has blamed the failures on a persistent shortage of crews to operate the trains. In most others, the problem is what officials call “equipment availability,” which means the railroad did not have all the trains available it needed to carry riders.
I'm not sure if the article, which does not appear to "break new ground", was prompted by a particular incident, or if it was simply a chance for a "Cub Reporter" to have a byline:

It appears that NJT's North Jersey Coast train 2606 is the centerpiece of this New York Times front page "teeoff" on NJT reliability:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/27/nyre ... elays.html

Fair Use:
MIDDLETOWN, N.J. — It was only 7 a.m., but for the commuters stewing inside a Spartan train station in this bedroom community, the day was already off to a predictably bad start.

Their train, North Jersey Coast Line 2606, which is supposed to depart at 7:06 a.m., had been canceled. Again.

This time — the 18th cancellation of the year — the official explanation was “equipment availability resulting from a mechanical issue.” But these aggrieved riders in Middletown did not seem to care. They had heard all the excuses the railroad had to offer. All that really mattered was that they were not getting to work on time. Again.

This is the plight of the hundreds of people who depend on what just may be the worst commuter train in America. The railroad they ride, New Jersey Transit, has been plagued for the last two years by a rash of cancellations.
