I am looking for some photos of the 15 cars from this series which were acquired by PC/MTA in 1971 for Hudson and Harlem line commuter service. Some of these cars also operated on LIRR. In particular, I am looking for photos of the cars in service on MTA/PC or MTA/LIRR during the 1970s.

DL&W/EL 318/1318 is now owned by Erie Lackawanna Equipment Leasing Co. It was last a part of the Cotton Belt 819 train. It will be part of the EL train being put together by the Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society.

njmidland -- It was that information on that specific car, which I learned a few days ago, that prompted my renewed interest in attempting to acquire some images of these coaches during their MTA service on PC and LIRR.

Did the 1318 pass through the ownership (in the late 70s-early 80s) of RRP (Railroad Passenger Cars) of Baltimore? I seem to recall they got one of the DLW-EL coaches, via a Conrail sale of passengers cars (PRR Valpo P-70s and one EL coach) to PCCA, which traded the EL coach to RRP for a B&O rebuilt heavyweight coach. PCCA was a Ross Rowland-financed outfit run by Howard Samelson, and PCCA rebuilt the cars used on the 1980-81 Chessie Safety Express trains.

No. The 1318 went from the MTA to the Battenkill in upstate NY. It was then purchased by the Cotton Belt 819 interests. It was then bought by the Vice President of ELDCPS last year.

You are correct that at least one of the DL&W coaches ended up on the Chessie Steam Special. I understand that it survives on the Potomac Eagle tourist operation, however I have not personally verified this.

Another one of these coaches is on the Tioga Central tourist operation. It is unused and for sale. However it is in very rough shape.
