I don’t normally double post something but this one will be posted to both Amtrak and Tri-Rail. I have mentioned in the past that Fort Lauderdale can be a relaxing spot to watch trains especially in the afternoon rush hour. Right now I can’t recommend this because the station building is closed and under renovation and a portion of the platform is blocked off and many of the benches are also gone. I am not positive just how long this work will be taking place and Amtrak is using a temporary portable building for its people and ticket office. When the work is finished, whenever that is, it will probably be just as good as before but for now I suggest a different location. Deerfield Beach is probably not a bad bet and any Tri-Rail station will do if you don’t mind watching Amtrak pass by at speed.
