Kinda figured it would be either the first or last train of the morning...

2300 is a Hoboken train. So she might not be coming back for a while, which stinks b/c I missed my photo chance.

From the NJT Website:

Dec 22, 2008 11:52:56 AM
Raritan Valley Line train #5719 the 10:06am from Newark Cancelled due to Mechanical Problem.

5719 is the multi-level set on the RVL... I wonder if it was the multi-levels or the PL42 that was the problem.

From what I heard, it was the engine.

Nice picture Kevin! I don't like them with a passion but I still have yet to catch them on the Coast Line and need to do that.

4014 was down in Bay Head due to an equipment manipulation screw-up. It was supposed to go to Raritan. It was not used on any shuttle trains and wasnt even listed on the yard paperwork. So those looking for pics didnt miss anything. They just used it on 2300 to get it back to Hoboken.

It looks from the pic kevin took that it went around the loop? haha I'm sure they were happy to have it come back with the engine facing east.

the locos are always on the east end so they can be plugged in to wayside. they go out the loop the "back way" aka ET move, in the AM for the Hoboken trains so its cab car east

I figured they would do something like that but I'm not crazy they have had the engine east before right? I don't like being crazy :-)

As Jt said, the engines are east out at night so they can be plugged into wayside power and shut down for the night. The crews turn the trains in the morning. Engines have gone to Hoboken east out before, but those are rare circumstances (like a cab car that has to be shopped with no replacement, or a cab with bad cabs).
