CR (Croton River) Tower was constructed in 1913 and was located at the north end of the Croton River Bridge. It once controlled the yard throat and station approaches. Does anyone know if CR tower lasted into the Metro-North era? When was it closed? When was it torn down?
CR tower was made remote controlled by HM tower in 1970.when i stepped in HM tower in1973 as a new hire, the old timers said to me'son you are in the wrong craft' as every tower would be made obsolete.when i transfered into the signal dept.CR interlocking was modified into it's present configureration in February,1978.
Penn Central, Metropplitan Region timetable no. 2, general order no. 209 effective 12:01 AM, June 1, 1971 took CR tower out of service and made it CR controlled from HM. Penn Central equals a period of many changes.
