WebTicket expiration date?

Post by SouthernRailway » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:08 pm

I bought a WebTicket (online, and delivered through the mail) for a long trip on the Harlem Line back in 2010. I just discovered that I still have the ticket, as I didn't take the trip. The ticket has no expiration date on it, as far as I can tell; I have the whole thing that was mailed to me.

Can I still use it, or is there some hidden expiration of WebTickets? I couldn't find out any expiration info from the MTA website.

Thanks.

Webtickets have the same expiration dates as their TOM and TVM counterparts. If bought before 12/30/10: one ways and round trips good for 6 months, ten trips good for 1 year.

Of course you can call customer service as well to receive an official answer from the railroad to your question.

In addition to what Rear and Terminal stated, the web tickets have the terms on the reverse side.

I will keep saying this here: The main reason people post fare questions here is because the MTA takes SO long to reply to questions. There is nothing wrong with providing simple answers, in my opinion. Unless the admin thinks otherwise and writes it into policy, threads like these shouldn't be locked.

All tickets bought before 12/30/10 have since expired.

And I will say this here AGAIN. Rail fans are in no official position to provide official answers to railroad policy. There was a wrong answer given here, which I'm certain was not done intentionally. The ONLY people who can officially provide the correct answer to these types of questions are the customer service department. If you post a fare question on a railfan site and get a wrong answer and end up in some sort of dispute on the train - are you going to quote that some railfan told you that so and so is correct?
