Another one back from gone (rebuilt gennie)

Post by DutchRailnut » Sat Jan 12, 2008 3:49 pm

Rebuilt Genesis 204 returned to home rail last week in its new scheme, the 202 (not painted) and 201-203-205-216 are in new scheme.
Currently outstanding is 208 (fire damage) 211 collision damage) both at Erie.
One rumor in Engineers room is that next to GE plant there is a huge meadow with about 3000 horsies, removed from the engine's of MNCR cause they are slower than s**t, cause GE did not put them back in ;-)

If Conductors are in charge, why are they promoted to be Engineer???

Nahh You know the railroad and specifically CSX has a black hole, its called Selkirk, locomotives disappear and re-appear weeks later for no apparent reason.

I'm suprised they ship it like that....no wrapping or anything like you'd find on a new car or truck...you would think they would want it to be all nice and shiny when it arrived at MNRR, especially with all the winter filth in the air. But, it wouldn't stay like that for long anyways I guess.

With regard to CSX, in my opinion the whole dam railroad is a "black hole".

Sorta related to this topic, anything happening with Shoreliner 1 #6178 to which was also involved in the mishap with 211?

The Gennies really look huge when they're alone, but that first photo shows the 204 being dwarfed by whatever power was pulling that train (Dash 9, AC4400, whatever...). I never realized there was such a size disparity.

I believe that both Bomb cars that were damaged along with the 211 were, or will soon be sent back to Dansville for repair.
I'm stuck on a sandbar on Cape Cod, and I couldn't be happier!!!

I know it was only the 6178 to which I saw in the shed next to 36 track last October during the Croton Harmon Open House. Thanks for the update!

202 does not have peeling paint, what you see is primer where car body repairs have been done at Erie.
The unit would have been painted at Altoona in new scheme but engine was done before design of new scheme was approved.
So what you see is primer and sanded spots.
Most noticable is over side windows where rain gutters were replaced.
If and when unit gets painted is still not determined.
