Should be early MTA livery (blue and yellow - state colors). Some pre-MNCR PC equipment had the same treatment. The state colors are now making a comeback on the MTA with the new buses and M-9s.

I like this one:

For the curious, there's a great coffee-table book called The Art of the Streamliner which goes into some detail about how EMD helped railroads develop distinctive visual identities - something they had never before considered in an era of darkly-painted (and quickly-dirtied) steam locomotives.

NW (and Everyone:)

Yes...This 1990s scheme was conceived by a senior manager in the Morris Park Shops (now since
retired) and was based on a past DL&W/EL color scheme. But - higher-ups would only allow blue
and yellow (from what I was told) NYS colors - and not retro colors using maroon and gray along
with yellow replicating this older scheme. This FA #7271 picture even better shows the prototype:

NY&W's picture of the 607 up above shows what this interesting scheme looked like when it was
new...The picture of #608 was of an experimental early-Gabreski era color scheme that was only
used on that one unit. I liked this color scheme - but the trouble is that white is a tough color to
keep clean on power units like this one. These two pictures are good reference for anyone who
may attempt to model FA's using these two past LIRR color schemes.

Thank you for the background as well. Its one of the nicer liveries, imho, and never heard it referred to by a nickname. May try to model it but those cheat lines will be tough

Jeez how many states have yellow/blue as colors? And is it that original to paint your trains that way?
