This picture is not the greatest, and it took some editing to get this (because my camera likes being a pest if I hit the shutter without focusing), but I saw 152 in the Jamaica area and spotted 157 in Hicksville yesterday morning while riding the 9:13 out of Jamaica to Hicksville. The photo is of the latter, which was running idle at the time:

Considering I don't know my equipment very well, this thread is what made me realize what a MP15AC was so when I spotted it, I knew what it was. Thanks. :)

Fair enough, I've just never been a big equipment person. There are the basics that I keep in mind (ALP-46s, the Dual Mode 45s for NJ Transit, the M-2s and M-8s for Metro-North, MP54 for Pennsy and various Erie & Lackawanna equipments, but that's it).

Stations have always been my thing.

I read your site all the time. I'm not a novice. I just don't get the hardon for equipment, so I don't study it. I study station histories for many roads in the northeast and midwest.

There were three on a Work Extra out of Atlantic Pipe earlier. 168-157 with 164 bringing up the tail of the train.

seen 166 and 168 with about 10 hoppers loading with stone on the siding in ya this a.m. work looks great.does this mean more trains out to the east end with increased speed?

#166 was the Jamaica switcher today, at 10:15 AM this morning as seen in New Hyde Park #172, #157 and #167 was running down the Main Line lite to Garden City. The #172, #157 and #167 went back to Hicksville at 1:58/1:59 PM this afternoon.

Saw two MP15s heading east bound, light, on the Mitchell Secondary by Clinton St. at approximately 12:40PM. The rear engine was P161.

Speaking of the MP-15AC's, are they due for replacement? They lately look a worse for the wear.

They're worn out, but still reliable (which is something that new stuff doesn't seem to have anymore). Just because they don't paint them doesn't mean they are in poor operating condition. As one Amtrak worker at the Wilmington shops once said, "If it looks clean and in good shape, that means it's a trouble maker."

If you don't prep the surface(media blast off the old paint),you get a crappy paint job!!
There are 10 layers of paint on the MP-15 by now! :(

#166 was sitting at Morris Park this morning, #152 was running lite past Queens Village this morning at 10:50 AM headed east and #164 was the Jamaica switcher.
