Radio Frequencies

Can I please have a list (no links please) of 20 Railroad Frequencies for Berks COunty area. Preferably Norfolk Southern and Reading Northern. I have a 20 channel bank on my scanner and I do not want to have any that are no longer used programed into it.

Do Radio Frequencies have ranges because I have a Radio Scanner that is post to pick up train frequencies but sadly it doesn't but any suggestions on how to figure it out but the other bad part is I live off of a short line named Yadkin Valley but once in a while NS runs on it. But I hear they don't use the radio that much I'm not sure why but I look forward to any help if it can be done Thanks!!!

I found these frequencies on the web. Perhaps you already have these in your scanner.
These are authorized frequencies. Whether they currenly use them or not is a question.

Yadkin Valley Railroad

In general, radios installed in Locomotives have low power (wattage) output,
which limits their range. They depend on either lineside receivers spaced
along the rail line, or mountaintop receivers and/or repeaters. Some small
railroads may be using a "talk around system", supplied by a cell phone company,
which you would not be able to hear.

Yepp thanks I checked out those frequencies 160.500 and 160.815. I recently did some listening in on the channels and I noticed 160.500 is the road channel for the two lines the line to North Wilkesboro is called Yadkin Valley train 2 the other line I believe is just called the Mount Airy Line. Not sure how often that line is active, but seems like the Wilkesboro line is a busy line this time of year!!!! But thanks for your help!!!

For an operation like Yadin Valley about the only time you will hear radio traffic is when the are switching. They are likely to get there track warrent (unless the line is operated as Yard Limits, of which I do not know) either in the office before they depart or on the company supplied cell phone. With shortlines they will have there paperwork for switching when they leave at the start of the run and may not need to talk to a dispatcher often unless things change.

If YV is run by track warrants you may hear some talk as for train operations. But if the shortline has one train on each line segment a day, then talking will be with low powered hand radios when switching.

Schuylkill Valley

In your research for radio frequencies have you ran across any for a Lehigh Rail management operation in Steelton, PA? If I was told correctly they also now operated the Steelton and Highspire but todate I can not find any freqs for that operation. I even searched for Arclor Mital and could not find any RR band freqs or any industrial freqs listed for transportation related activities.

How does NS work in the old Southern Railway territory? It seems 160.950MHz is used along with 160.245MHz with one being Dispatch to Train and the other Train to Dispatch. Do they use any other road channels?
