Guilford abandoned the lower road in the 1980s between Brunswick and Augusta. The State of Maine purchesed the section. Pan Am has removed rail from the section they still own in Augusta to replace broken rail on the still active line to the east. The line from Brunswick to Royal jct and East Augusta to Waterville is still active, and the northern section sees 1-2 trips a week to service a couple of customers in Augusta
