OMID Anniversary - "It ain't gonna work!"

Post by BR&P » Mon Oct 01, 2018 7:39 pm

"It's a waste of time and money. It's been shown the rail line here can't survive, and there's no point in trying."

No, not a word-for-word quote, but fairly close on the wording and exactly accurate in the sentiment of a letter to the newspaper - can't recall if it was The Sodus Record, or Finger Lakes Times. That's how one Wayne County resident (a retired NYC man and former union local chairman) saw things when Ontario Midland Railroad began operations 39 years ago today. I'm sure that gentleman is no longer with us, but OMID certainly is.

A tip of the hat to those folks still making it a success all these years later! :-D

It's impressive that it sustains. Must be a pretty lean operation.
