Former railroad connection, Jerome Ave, Bronx?
Does anybody know if the bent structures between Jerome Ave and Villa Ave (south of E204th Street) in the Bronx is build on a former rail connection? It would appear so. Can anybody tell something about the background?
You can see it here:

Thanks! Andrew.

Re: Former RR connection in NYC?
FWIW, if you are talking about the curved building, historicaerials.com shows it there in 1954 already.

If there was a connection, it was something related to the subway, not the general railroad system.

AS per the 1940 Tax photos, it's a garage: https://nycma.lunaimaging.com/luna/serv ... mi=0&trs=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This looks rather intriguing, but I do not have an answer. The curvature though suggests something rr or subway related. It goes a bit beyond Villa Ave if you look closely. Maybe post the question on the subway forum.

I would say at least to Mosholu Pwy.. Buildings likely were build after track was abandoned. These building fit right into where trackbed would have been, except for one bldg. that takes up bigger area.

I found this 1893 map online which seems to answer the question.

It would be the spur from the Harlem Line to the Jerome Park racetrack. Potter Place became 204th Street and Anthony Avenue was eliminated by the Grand Concourse. The racetrack closed the following year.
At some point a short section of the abandoned right-of-way was left undeveloped and a building was inserted into the curved lot.
