Union Pacific Office Car Special in NJ?
Read the caption for the photo link below. Is the UP Office Car Special really in Croxton, NJ? Has this ever happened? Why are they there? Any photos/video?

It's true! Here is the article from Trains.com. Can't wait to see some of the pics and chase videos!

"At Proviso, UP removed No. 2752 from the train, which continued east from Chicago as Norfolk Southern train 066-30. It’s expected to return west from Croxton on June 4 to Council Bluffs."

From the comments section of article...
"Norfolk Southern posted a photo of the train earlier today. They state that the train is headed to a ceremony in Harriman, NY. The E.H. Harriman Estate (Arden) is located there. I assume this has something to do with the Harriman family and its legacy with UP"
"on the weekend it will operate west on the former Erie Line, now NJT/MNR, to Campbell Hall, NY crossing Moodna Viaduct and return to NJ..."

The train is scheduled to depart Croxton at 1:15 PM Sunday and follow NJ Transit/Metro-North train 75 to Harriman on the former Erie.

This is great information! I have been searching but have found nothing. Anyone aware of a good viewing spot as I am unfamiliar with the area.chuchubob wrote:The train is scheduled to depart Croxton at 1:15 PM Sunday and follow NJ Transit/Metro-North train 75 to Harriman on the former Erie.

Will they go out the Bergen or Main Line?
Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?

Someone posted this on reddit yesterday, not sure how accurate it is.
"Got the proposed schedule for Sunday, June 3rd: Croxton crew on duty at 1130 w/safety briefing at noon. Leaves Croxton about 1315 Hx. Follows NJT 75 from HX at 1335. Arrives at Harriman at 1445. Reverse move at Harriman at 1715 after NJT 77 goes west. Train departs Harriman for CP Valley at 1815. Meets eastbound NJT 80 at 1830. Slow move over Moodna Viaduct. Arrives at Hudson Junction at 1900. Tie down/uncouple. Power to CP Hall. Clear main line at 1930 for NJT 79. Depart Hudson Junction at 1940. Arrive Harriman at 2020. Depart to Croxton at 2100."

The times and meets can be thrown out the window now as MTA is doing emergency bridgework and no trains are going past Harriman.
I think it may be possible that NJ Transit might not be the perfect, infallible organization that most people assume it is.

Anyone know which station has the highest track speed? I will be going out there tomorrow on NJT and I’d like to see it at passenger speeds (no idea if the Port Jervis Line has 79mph areas).

FWIW, it calls it "planned work". Maybe "planned" with one hour notice?? If I recall correctly, a few(?) weeks ago there was some emergency work related to flood damage - maybe this bridge work is related to that.Planned Work Posted: 06/02/2018 6:29AM
Substitute busing will be in effect between Port Jervis and Harriman stations Saturday & Sunday, June 2 - 3. Busing begins Saturday, June 2 with the 7:24 AM train leaving Port Jervis, and the 10:28 AM train leaving Harriman, and continues all day Sunday, June 3. Regular train service will resume with the 3:50 AM Monday train departing Port Jervis, and the 9:35 AM train leaving Harriman. For full details see http://web.mta.info/mnr/pdf/06-01-18_PJLbus_v2a.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Thank you for your cooperation while we perform these important infrastructure improvements

Re: Union Pacific Office Car Special in NJ?
My uncle who lives a stone's throw away from the Plauderville station on the Bergen line just called me about half an hour ago to tell me about the "Union Pacific" passenger train that he and some friends saw pass by. His friends who know what the train is are already aware that it will pass though again on the return trip.
Wish that I could have been there to catch it.
