Skaneateles shortline #7(45 ton)

Does NYSEG still use or own this locomotive.

No. 6 (44 tonner) was sold to NYSEG and was used in Dryden at Milikin Station. After a few years there it was later sold to a short line in California where it was baught and used for parts.

No. 7 (Side Rod 65 Ton center cab) after working for NYSEG in Dresden, NY it was Sold to eather Alberta Hydro or the Edmonton Water Department in Canada where it was sold to a scap dealer after a number of years of service it was last reported to have been reported to have been at the: Port of Vancouver Docks in British Columbia? and last knowen to be somplace in Colorado???? I would like an update on this one as well.

NYSEG now operates with an Ex CR Cabless Remote Contoled SW7 on site to shuttle cars around on its Milikin Station Coal Plant. The unit is painted White but is not easy to spot from the lake sents the engion is parked indoors when not in use.

Well, there's a big difference between being sold in California and used for parts, and sold to a New York state shortline in one piece. One or the other of you is WAAAY wrong!

Dan:

Just like you said, it went to Hew York State Electric & Gas. At first
it went to the Greenridge Station, near Dresden, N.Y. Later it was
transferred to the Jennison Station, near Bainbridge, N.Y., where it is
may still reside. Of course, NYSE&G sold out to AES in 1998, and that
plant was closed in about 2000, but last I heard, it was "mothballed",
so maybe the locomotive has been mothballed along with everything else.
Old closed plants like that are rarely re-opened, so I expect that it
will show up on the used locomotive market one of these days.

While I am really telling you nothing that you didn't already know, I
hope something of it helps.
