I have learned that a Local level agency, the Iowa Railway Finance Authority, has approved Flood Loans to several Class II roads operating in Iowa. Tomorrow, I'll be near "Ground Zero", i.e. staying in Coralville (Holiday Inn; all "rooms with a view' of the Rock Island) and visiting friends both in Amana and Cedar Rapids. The latter were displaced during the emergency.
- The approved loans include: $71,000 for Burlington Junction Railway;
$320,000 for Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway Co.; $554,000 for
Keokuk Junction Railway Co.; $1.4 million for Iowa, Chicago and Eastern
Railroad Corp.; $772,000 for Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd.; $681,000
for Iowa Northern Railway Co.; and $184,000 for Iowa River Railroad.
