Hi guys, a buddy of mine, who used to live in Roanoke, VA many years ago, wants to know when the Roanoke streetcar service ended. I did some research for him and came up with 1940 when the Roanoke Street Railway was abandoned. He told me that was not it. Then I found another possible name, the Roano...

There was a Southbound BNSF grain train on the old Western Pacific main from Keddie to Sacramento, with three BNSF CW44-9s on the front, three BNSF CW44-9s in the middle as DPU and a CSX AC4400CW #290 and a BNSF CW44-9 on the rear as DPU. This was around 4:25pm and was spotted just North of Sacramen...

There was a Northbound BNSF mixed freight on the old WP main to Keddie around 7:10pm, power was two BNSF CW44-9s and two Santa Fe CW44-9s elephant style on the front, and on the rear was a Santa Fe CW44-9 running long-hood forward and a BNSF CW44-9 as DPU. Also of note there was a Southbound BNSF gr...

I was thinking the same thing, as I remember CP having a huge fleet of SD40-2s at one time, but retired them. Could it be that CP is experiencing a surge of traffic that necessitated the purchase of these BNSF SD40-2s? Why not lease instead of purchase, if it is only for a short while? Could it be t...

What is the difference between a Class 1 and Class 1A Air Brake test? I know the Class 1 is the test done after 1000 miles, and the Class 1A is the initial terminal test. I see the procedures for both are about the same, but what is the main difference?

Thank you so much. I am starting to understand the rail lines now. So the line from Sacramento to Marysville is the SP Line to Roseville and then on to Portland correct? I live in North Sacramento just West of Rio Linda, and there is a line that parallels Highway 99/70, and each day I see both BNSF ...

Hi all, I am in Sacramento area from Florida for two months. I am looking for a map of Union Pacific and BNSF trackage in the area. Are there two UP lines that go thru Sacramento area? What is the trackage that goes thru Rio Linda and Marysvile? Does that go to Oregon and Washington State?
