Re: Official New England Southern Thread (NEGS)

Winter in New Hampshire officially begun last Saturday 12/29/18. That was when the New England Southern Railroad Crews took care of their annual winter ritual by placing an open hopper MOW car at the northern opening of the Merrimack River Bridge in Concord. They placed their other open hopper MOW c...

The timing, sadly, could be ripe in the State House with both the NH House & Senate with Democratic majorities to change the statutes, though I think it would be a battle royale. The article in the Laconia Sun was woefully biased to the WOWees and failed to mention that the area impacted would b...

The Mainstream media seemed to report with the idea that the train can magically swerve around the unwise and trespassing violators/victims or the train can just 'hit the brake' and stop. I know I am Speaking to the choir here. Late last summer, The reporterette at the only television news organizat...

What a tragedy, a sad tragedy that didn't need to happen. Kudos to WHDH-TV 7, the dethroned NBC Affiliate, for being the only news gathering organization to have correctly report that the couple was sadly, trespassing on the tracks. Some of the stuff I have read out there in the media was clearly be...

The Passenger / Commuter Rail topic is dead for now. The NH Senate Voted out the 4 million dollar federal grant to study the build out of the project to Manchester.

New England Southern made their first round trip run of 2018 going from Canterbury to Concord to Tilton, and back again with two loaded slurry tank cars for 3M in Tilton and taking two empty tank cars back to Concord for interchange with Pan Am. Also the open hopper that guarded the north side of th...

NEGS's three open hoppers get some use during the winter.. There's the one that guards the north end of the Merrimack River Bridge in Concord, the second hopper is placed on the south side of the West Road Crossing, just by the NEGS WORLD HEADQUARTERS, and the third is placed at the North End of the...

Those ties have been there for a while. It's not quite a "Railfan's Springtime" just yet, as the open hopper still sits, and guards the north end of the Merrimack River Bridge.. Soon though... :)

My Humble Predictions.. The Downeaster will be extended to Presque Isle, the Ethan Allen Express will be extended from Rutland to Burlington, MBTA Commuter Rail will be extended from South Station to both Fall River & New Bedford, there will be some type of passenger rail service arriving and de...

New England Southern concluded their 2017 delivery season taking a pair of clay slurry cars to the 3M plant in Tilton from Concord. They could make one more half run from Canterbury to Tilton to switch out the tank cars at 3M at the end of the year. They brought two open hoppers down from Canterbury...

Through the hard work of a dedicated bunch of guys, the 01400s made their grand operational debut last weekend at Rapid Transit Day at Seashore! While the outsides looked a little rough, the insides cleaned up perfectly! Crowds were genuinely excited to take a ride in the commodious Bluebirds! They ...

Since these people are so interested in the mechanics of a railroad, perhaps their punishment should be for them to learn how the railroad business works... Their punishment should be to clean, better yet, scrub, every bathroom and toilet in each Pan Am locomotive for at least six months. If these p...

Don't hold me to these answers, since I am not 100% on this... Both of these engines I believe are owned by the State of NH, one of them not sure which, is in need of traction motors, not sure about the other one. P & L wound up with two EMD's a few years ago with the SW1000 (#1012) from Larry's...

It appears ALCOs 958 and 1186 are in service, and both are in Lincoln. When I was in Lincoln recently, 958 was the passenger train power, while their blue SW1001 and 1186 were on a siding. ALCO's 959 and 1008 are stored at a locomotive shed in Lakeport. One is outside, one is in the shed, along with...
