Saw cab no. 2024 moving three coaches westbound between Rye and Harrison this a.m.
If this is work on an interlocking, why the new catenary bridges and towers?
Can anyone tell me the origin of the caboose currently stuck on Track 15 in GCT, behind some dumpsters?
Thanks.

I've seen track crews recently hard at work in New Rochelle. Can anyone tell us what kind of work is being done?

Danbury, is of course correct, Otto. Don't know what I was thinking.
I saw No. 2011 on the New Canaan shuttle today at Stamford. Sounded like she was running well.

I agree with Noel. It's a fine book. I especially enjoyed the before/after pictures. I often marvel at the valley that the Hutchison River viaduct crossed, when I pass it on MN. The book has many pictures of the viaduct, which I also enjoyed.

I get the feeling that there was not too much available that fit MN/CDOT's needs. I assume that the P40 Genesis locos have the same/similar dimensions to the Genesis locos that MN already uses. Assuming that MN & CDOT could get a waiver of the old NY law prohibiting fuel-burning locos from runni...
My understanding is that one of the leading proposals for new seats on the New Haven branch is to link up two M-7 cars with a new "M-8". Only the M-8 would have a pantograph, and would provide power to the M-7 trucks when in CT. The process would reverse in 3rd rail territory. Well, seeing...
Who do we contact to sign up? M-N Group Tours?
Though I'll admit I don't like sitting in the middle, I often see cars packed to the gills on the NH line MUs. The last seats to go are the middle seats in the five-seat areas. The middle seats in the other rows go fairly quickly. Of course, there are usually plenty of seats open in other cars, but ...
Let me see if I have this right. So far, I think we can agree that: 1. VRE cars have freed up Shoreline East coaches that COULD be used to supplement service into GCT on the New Haven line, but MN/CTDOT do not have any available engines to pull them; 2. Only current diesel that is suitable/sized rig...
Is the rail in the tunnel to GCT made with continuous welded rail? It seems to me that it is not, based upon the 'clickety-clack' sound I hear every day during my commute.
If not, why not?
Wouldn't this provide for a quieter ride, and higher speeds?
